Bentworth School District
Bentworth School District is classified as a rural district that encompasses an area of approximately 54 square miles and serves students from the boroughs of Bentleyville, Cokeburg, and Ellsworth as well as North Bethlehem Township and Somerset Township. The administrative offices are located at 150 Bearcat Drive, Bentleyville, PA 15314-1422. The current building configuration is one (1) elementary school (K-4); one (1) middle school (5-8); and one (1) high school (9-12).
The district provided basic educational services to approximately 1,150 students. The Mon Valley Career and Technology center provide occupational training for a variety of technical fields. Two recent, and highly successful, additions to the District have been a K-12 partial hospitalization mental health program within the district in collaboration with a local mental health facility and the implementation of a Head Start federally funded program for four year olds at the elementary level.
The creation of a High School STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Program
(Bentworth's Innovation Corridor)
Equipment is our top priority at this time.
Items of need are 3D printers, CNC router machine, laser engraver, large format printers, water jet cutter and a direct to garment printer.
Ultimately our goal is for our students to have access to available STEM technology, develop real world connections, explore career pathways, increase female participation and set our students up for success in STEM related fields. Work has begun on creating the physical space and purchasing some equipment. However, additional equipment is greatly needed.
The addition of a High School Maker Space / STEM class will assist in providing more relevant courses and curriculum. It will provide access to STEM pathways that will better prepare students for STEM college majors or careers.
