American National Red Cross
Nonprofit Overview
The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Every day, we work to provide safe shelter, food, emotional support, and essential relief for people affected by home fires, natural disasters, and other crises across our communities.
Our team delivers lifesaving programs that strengthen community resilience. This includes disaster preparedness education, support for members of the armed forces and their families, lifesaving blood collection, health and safety training, and coordination with local partners to meet urgent community needs.
In our region, the Red Cross responds to emergencies large and small with compassion and care, ensuring that individuals and families have the resources they need to recover and move forward. Guided by our mission and propelled by dedicated volunteers, we remain committed to building safer, stronger communities for all.
Current Needs
The American Red Cross has several urgent needs that directly impact our ability to deliver timely and compassionate service to people facing emergencies in our community.
Growing volunteer capacity
We rely on volunteers for nearly every aspect of our mission. Many of our services, from disaster response to preparedness outreach, require more trained volunteers to meet rising demand. As home fires continue to be the most frequent disaster in our region, we need more volunteers who can respond at any hour and provide comfort, resources, and recovery guidance to families experiencing crisis.
Sustaining financial support for disaster response
Our teams respond to emergencies every day. Financial support ensures we can provide shelter, food, emergency lodging, health and mental wellness services, and long term recovery assistance at no cost to the people we serve. With increased disaster activity and more families requiring help, flexible funding is essential to remain ready for whatever comes next.
Partnerships that strengthen community resilience
As needs evolve, strong partnerships with agencies, community groups, and local leaders help us reach more people with preparedness education, home fire safety programs, and support for seniors, families, and vulnerable residents. Continued engagement with partners helps us ensure that every community has the tools and information needed to stay safe and recover after a crisis.
Support for military families and veterans
Requests for emergency communication services, resiliency support, and community connection continue to rise among service members, veterans, and their families. Additional volunteers and community partnerships are essential to meet this growing need.
Together, these priorities help the Red Cross respond effectively today while preparing the region for the challenges of tomorrow. Local chapters may emphasize different areas based on community needs.
